09 Apr Biodiversity Friend at Macfrut 2026!
From 21 to 22 April 2026, the World Biodiversity Association will be present at Macfrut, the leading international trade fair for the fruit and vegetable sector, which every year brings together in Rimini institutions, companies, researchers and organizations committed to agricultural innovation and sustainability.
On this occasion, WBA will present the Biodiversity Friend certification, a voluntary standard designed to protect biodiversity within agricultural systems.
WBA will participate together with CISP at the AICS (Italian Agency for Development Cooperation) stand, as part of the AGROCADENAS Project, contributing to workshops dedicated to traceability, biodiversity, geographical indications and rural development.
The initiative stems from the dialogue launched between Italy and Colombia within the ICARRD+20 framework, with the aim of sharing models and good practices for more sustainable, resilient and inclusive agrifood systems.
On Tuesday, 21 April, WBA will take part in the seminar “Geographical Indications, Local Development and Sustainable Tourism” with a contribution focused on the role of biodiversity in building transparent and sustainable agrifood value chains, including through the experience of the Biodiversity Friend certification. The discussion will involve several stakeholders, including the Colombian Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, with the goal of identifying synergies and new opportunities for international cooperation.
The event will take place in Pavilion B6 – CAMELIA ROOM, from 14:30 to 16:00, and will be coordinated by Gianluca Falcitelli, Director of CISP.

Macfrut offers an ideal setting to highlight Italy’s experience in certification, territorial governance and biodiversity protection in agriculture—topics that are increasingly central to the competitiveness of agrifood value chains.
